There are a wide variety of reasons why men and women chose to undergo cosmetic procedures to enhance their looks. While it might surprise you, one of these intentions is to help further their careers. A previous study by the University of California demonstrated that in fact, attractive people are more successful at their jobs. They earn more and are better respected in their organization. With this in mind, a new study was conducted to see just how many American women believe that plastic surgery would help their career and in turn, how many would have surgery with career goals in mind.
According to the results of this study, 1 in 5 women said that they would get plastic surgery to get them further ahead at work. These statistics don’t even incorporate those women who participated in the study that said that they would get plastic surgery for other reasons. There was a time when these numbers might not have been so high because the majority of women chose to keep any cosmetic procedures they’ve had done a secret (still a celebrity trend today) and didn’t want to admit insecurity. However, today there is a much better understanding of what plastic surgery is and there is a much greater acceptance and honesty surrounding the topic so many women are proud to say they’d do it!
Whether you agree or disagree that plastic surgery should be used to help you climb the career ladder; the statistics don’t lie. Would you get plastic surgery just to boost your level of success at work? Tell us why or why not and what your plastic surgery motivations would be!
